The San Antonio Spurs have managed to keep it steady, despite being without their star player, Kawhi Leonard, for the majority of this season.

Yet other Western Conference teams in the playoff race haven't counted them out as a powerhouse just yet, with many games left to play in this 2017-18 campaign.

“The Spurs are a machine, man,” L.A. Clippers shooting guard Lou Williams said, according to Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News. “You can never count them out.”

Other All-Stars agreed.

“Never. You can never count the Spurs out,” New Orleans Pelicans center Anthony Davis said. “They are third in the West? How can you count them out?”

The Spurs are 35-24 this season, 9.5 games behind the second-place Golden State Warriors and 10 games behind their in-state rival Houston Rockets, but they've had a machine in LaMarcus Aldridge, who has produced above their expectations and proved to be a main scorer for the first time in his three-year tenure with the team.

San Antonio doesn't have the same breathing room as they have in recent season, in a virtual tie with the Minnesota Timberwolves, who have played the most games of any team prior to the All-Star break.

“It’s a tight race,” Williams said. “I was just talking to somebody about it. If a team has a bad week, it could put them in a bad spot.”

The Clippers and Pelicans are separated by only half a game, likely battling for the last playoff spot for the next few weeks, but the race in the West is as tight as ever with only three games separating third and eighth place.
