The San Antonio Spurs experienced a transitory season last year. After swapping Kawhi Leonard for DeMar DeRozan, coach Gregg Popvich and co. battled through injuries and a young and relatively inexperienced rotation to make the playoffs as the seventh seed in the Western Conference.

One of the unsung heroes of the season was third-year point guard Bryn Forbes, who filled in for the injured Dejounte Murray and started 81 of 82 regular season games, as well as all seven playoff games.

But with Murray's return looming and the development of Derrick White, Forbes' role is a bit unclear heading into the 2019-20 season.

Despite the uncertainty, Forbes told Jabari Young of The Athletic that he is determined to remain a vital piece of San Antonio's roster:

“There aren’t any worries about the roster or teammates,” Forbes said. “It’s just I’m going to control what I can control, you know what I mean? That’s really all of it. Any decisions that are being made that are not my decisions, I don’t control that. But what I can control, I’m going to control.”

Asked whether he’s concerned about his minutes on a team with so much depth at his position, Forbes said: “No worries. No worries at all.”

Forbes was very effective in his starting role, posting 11.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists on 28 minutes per night while also shooting over 40 percent from beyond the arc.

The 26-year-old out of Michigan State will undoubtedly be a key figure one again next season given his perimeter shooting touch, which offers a nice contrast to the athletic and physical presences of Murray and White.
