San Antonio Spurs guard Dejounte Murray was fined $25,000 by the NBA after kicking the ball into the stands. The event took place after a 102-99 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, led by a game-winning three by Luguentz Dort.
Murray’s unfortunate situation led to teammates defending his case on his frustrations after the loss.
What we learned today: "Kicking a ball into the spectator stands" is still fine worthy, even if there are no spectators. https://t.co/z9A9IzX4fy

Murray’s backcourt mate, Lonnie Walker, stood by his teammate when asked about the situation. He explained to the media that he would have made the same decision after everything that transpired. The Spurs as a team was frustrated on their last possession as Dort’s game-winning three-pointer became a defensive breakdown for the team. The loss for San Antonio gave the team their 12th defeat of the season.

Murray has continued to be a fantastic all-around player for San Antonio this season. His averages are 15.7 points per game along with 7.2 rebounds and 5.1 assists. Murray’s play for the team continues to transcend as he shows better efficiency and body control. The Spurs are currently the fifth seed in the Western Conference as they look to capture a playoff seed after missing the postseason last year.
As the Spurs look to close out their first half of the season, their next three matchups are at home against Brooklyn, New York, and Oklahoma City before the all-star break. The Spurs currently have won nine of their last 13 games and continue to play well on both sides of the floor.
Monday’s matchup will be a test against the Brooklyn Nets, who have won eight of their last 10 games.
