The state of San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich has been a major question that flew under the radar after his team was eliminated from playoff contention in the first round.

Popovich's wife; Erin, died battling a long-fought condition before the start of Game 3 against the Golden State Warriors, at which point he took a leave of absence, entrusting assistant Ettore Messina with the head coaching duties.

His point guard; Dejounte Murray, provided a quick update on his coach through his Instagram story.

“Glad To See Coach Pop Is Doing Better, Such A Strong Man Who Cares More About Others More Than Himself,” Murray's heart-warming message read, via Madalyn Mendoza of the San Antonio News-Express.

Murray recently became the youngest player ever named to an NBA All-Defensive Team, dethroning Kobe Bryant of the record.

The 20-year-old was named the starting point guard midway through this season, as Tony Parker turned over the mantle to the Washington product, who excelled at the defensive end.

Popovich is expected to come back when he deems fit, with several looming questions to address regarding the state of the franchise after a season-long mysterious relationship with the injured Kawhi Leonard.

The Spurs also have a list of veteran players, who can potentially return — though their futures will all revolve around the franchise's willingness to extend Leonard a max extension this offseason.
