After spending the first six years of his career with the San Antonio Spurs, it's now time to say goodbye for Dejounte Murray. The 25-year-old was traded to the Atlanta Hawks in a blockbuster deal on Wednesday, as the Spurs now embrace a full rebuild mode.

Murray took to Twitter to express his gratitude to San Antonio now that he's headed to Atlanta:

“SAN ANTONIO I LOVE YOU FOREVER….. 🖤 Thank You @spurs And The Whole City For Believing In Me And Embracing Me From DAY ONE. I Want To Write A Whole Book But It’s Not Easy. We Are Family And Its Always Going To Be Bigger Than Basketball!!!” Murray wrote in his tweet

The Spurs drafted Murray as the 29th pick in 2016. He made steady progress in his first few years in San Antonio, but it wasn't until last season that he fully blossomed into a bona fide All-Star. In 2021-22, the Washington alum posted career-best averages of 21.1 points on 46.2 percent shooting, 8.3 rebounds, 9.2 assists, a league-high 2.0 steals, while also connecting on 1.4 triples per game.

The Spurs decided to cash in on Murray now and in exchange, they received Danilo Gallinari (who is expected to be bought out) and no less than three future first-round picks.
