DeMar DeRozan is one of the best players on the San Antonio Spurs. He also might be the most superstitious.

ESPN's Michael C. Wright sent out this tweet on Thursday evening:

“In other sneaker trivia, DeMar DeRozan always changes kicks at halftime. He said it's superstition.”

DeRozan is an avid basketball shoe collector, as his interview by Nice Kicks on YouTube shows. His halftime superstition is only matched by his love for the kicks themselves.

DeRozan this past offseason was a part of a blockbuster trade that sent superstar Kawhi Leonard and wing Danny Green to the Toronto Raptors for DeRozan, center Jakob Poetl and a first-round draft pick.

This was following a falling out between San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich and his star player Kawhi Leonard. The Raptors were also at a crossroads just having fired Dwayne Casey. It allowed for the Raptors to redefine their offense under new head coach Nick Nurse. It also let Popovich get his hands on one of the league's smoothest finishers and mid-range marksman.

DeRozan and center LaMarcus Aldridge have paired beautifully together, making them a very formidable partners.  DeRozan on the season is averaging a career-high 24.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game while shooting 48 percent from the floor. Popovich wasn't turned off by DeRozan's lack of a three-point shot and has instead discouraged him from even taking them unless he's wide open.

This season the Spurs have a 14-14 record and are 10th in the NBA's deep Western Conference. Aldridge has averaged 18.2 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 45.9 percent from the field.

The Spurs face off against the Chicago Bulls in a home this upcoming Saturday. The Bulls are the second worst team in the NBA with a 6-23 record, last in the Eastern Conference.
