It appears that San Antonio Spurs swingman DeMar DeRozan's ankle issue will keep him out of action for only one game. After sitting out Friday night's 116-113 victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the 29-year-old recently announced that he has every intention of suiting up against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday.

DeRozan is one of the league's most robust players, and he is off to prove this again. However, he did admit to suffering a bit of wear and tear this season, but nothing that will keep him out of action for more than a single outing.

DeRozan has been great for the Spurs this season, averaging 21.7 points (on 46.6 percent shooting), 6.1 rebounds, 6.4 assists (both career-high marks), 1.0 steals, and 0.5 blocks in 35.5 minutes of action. His scoring may have taken a bit of a dip (he averaged 23.0 points per game last season with the Toronto Raptors), but he has elevated other aspects of his game.

With a 27-20 record, the Spurs are currently fifth in the highly-competitive Western Conference. This is thanks in large part to DeRozan's solid play.

It's been an up and down month for the Spurs, as the team have won six of their nine January games. After the team host the Clippers on Sunday, it will be followed by a brief, two-game road trip. The Spurs are slated to face the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday, followed by a matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday.
