San Antonio Spurs guard Derrick White is set to miss the first of their eight-game road trip on Monday.

According to Jeff McDonald of My San Antonio, Derrick White has been ruled out of the Spurs' Monday night showdown with the Sacramento Kings due to a right heel soreness. Fortunately for the team, that is not the same foot that caused White to miss the opening nine games of the season.

White has been solid as a starter for the Spurs so far, averaging 9.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game this season. He has also brought his game up recently, putting up 14.7 markers on top of 4.5 boards and 4.2 dimes in their last six matches.

In fact, in their game against the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday last week, White exploded for a career-high 26 points on 8-of-13 shooting (3-4 from 3-point range). Moreover, he finished with six assists, three rebounds, two blocks and one steal in just 25 minutes of action.

It remains to be seen how long White will be sidelined with the injury, but the Spurs are certainly hoping that it's not a serious problem. In a season marred with plenty of health and fitness issues, San Antonio couldn't afford to have a player out for a long time.

The game against the Kings is just the first of an eight-game rodeo that also includes visits to Golden State, Portland, Utah and Toronto.
