The San Antonio Spurs will have the utmost diligence dealing with a touchy situation with their disgruntled star, Kawhi Leonard.

General manager R.C. Buford offered that while the team remains intent in finding a solution and keeping him as a Spur, the front office will leave to peg unturned.

“Kawhi and his family mean a lot to our organization and to the community,” Buford said after the NBA Draft, according to ESPN's Michael C. Wright. “While none of us would wish we are where we are, we're going to do what we can to build the best relationship we can with him, and we'll explore all of our options. But the first one would be to do what we can to keep Kawhi as a part of our group.”

The clock was believed to be ticking for a potential draft day deal involving Leonard, but the front office mainstay argued the Spurs aren't rushing this one bit.

“I don't know that timing's a factor in this. … He's under contract for another year,” Buford said. “Our goal is to keep him as a part of our program for a long time.”

Asked when this issue would be ideally resolved, Buford gave some insight to the internal frustration of this situation, saying “yesterday” — a clear sign that this front office is rather uncomfortable with this dark cloud hanging over what's been a crystalline organization for the past two decades.
