Congratulations are in order, as former San Antonio Spurs big man Fabricio Oberto has been named to the FIBA Hall of Fame Class of 2019, according to a report from Jeff Garcia of Spurs Zone.

Oberto, now 44 years of age, was one of the first well-known Argentinians to play in the NBA. They called it the “Golden Generation.” During that time, several players from the South American nation made their marks in the league, including Manu Ginobili, Luis Scola and Pablo Prigioni.

Oberto has been successful on many fronts. He won a gold medal with Argentina at the 2004 Athens Games, topping Team USA in surprising fashion. In 2007, he helped the Spurs sweep LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals. In the latter stages of his career, he played for the Washington Wizards and Portland Blazers before returning to Argentina. Ultimately, he retired in 2013.

According to Garcia's report, the 2019 class will be enshrined into FIBA's Hall of Fame on Aug. 30 during a special ceremony in Beijing, China, on the eve of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 tip-off.

Several other players and coaches will join Oberto as members of the 2019 class.
