Former San Antonio Spurs champion and current TV analyst Sean Elliott says it's “awesome” Tim Duncan is becoming an assistant coach with the team.

Elliot, who was part of the 1999 Spurs team which won the title over the New York Knicks in five games, says “players are going to be thrilled to come in and work” with Duncan, who is arguably the best power forward in NBA history.

Who wouldn't want to learn from the great Tim Duncan, aka The Big Fundamental? The future Hall of Famer is the best player in Spurs franchise history and has so much knowledge to offer to the current guys on the team.

Duncan was never the most athletic guy during his playing days, and yet he dominated the league for over a decade because of his elite basketball skills and high basketball IQ. Those are two things Duncan can educate the Spurs' current players. You can't teach athleticism, but you can certainly learn how to make the right basketball plays.

The Spurs didn't make any drastic roster changes this summer. They signed Trey Lyles, who played for the Denver Nuggets last season, and DeMarre Carroll, who was with the Brooklyn Nets in 2018-19.
