San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich revealed that Dejounte Murray will definitely not return to action this season.

Per Jeff McDonald, Popovich reiterated that Murray tore his ACL and has a “zero” chance of returning this year. A torn ACL usually has a timetable of 12 months.

To recall, Murray tore the ACL in his right knee during a preseason game against the Houston Rockets on October 7. Many believed that this season would be a breakout year for the 22-year-old. Last season, he was named to the All-NBA Defensive Second Team, becoming the youngest player in NBA history to be named to an All-Defensive Team.

Last season, Murray appeared in 81 games and averaged 8.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.2 steals in 21.5 minutes. Recently, Murray posted a clip of himself, putting in work during rehab. As observed, Murray is already moving well but is still favoring his right knee.

Murray was set to take over the starting point guard role for Tony Parker. This made Parker the third backup guard behind Murray and Derrick White. This led to Parker's decision to leave the Spurs — a team which he helped lead to four championships — to sign a two-year, $10 million contract with the Charlotte Hornets.
