San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich says his “unprofessional” Marcus Morris comments include the actions of the New York Knicks.

Morris backed out of his agreement with the Spurs and decided to sign a one-year deal with the Knicks worth $15 million.

Morris and his agent — Rich Paul of Klutch Sports — mutually parted ways this offseason. Morris was going to sign a two-year, $20 million contract with the Spurs before pivoting to the Knicks’ offer.

There were reports which claimed Morris was privately upset his free agent market wasn’t more robust. The Spurs, meanwhile, lost Davis Bertans, as they had to trade him to the Washington Wizards to free up cap space for Morris.

Morris will play on a one-year deal with the Knicks with the hopes of increasing his value around the league so he can get a more lucrative offer in free agency next summer. It’s safe to say Popovich and the Spurs won’t pursue Morris next offseason — although if DeAndre Jordan can sign with the Dallas Mavericks after everything that happened in 2015, anything is possible.

Morris averaged 13.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists with the Boston Celtics last season while shooting 44.7 percent from the field, 37.5 percent from beyond the arc and 84.4 percent from the free-throw line.
