The relationship between San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich and former star forward Kawhi Leonard will never be the same. After forcing his way out of San Antonio, it's clear that Leonard did everything in his power to get away from Popovich and the Spurs organization. Despite their great times together, including two NBA Finals appearances and an NBA title, those negatives will likely always define their time together when looking back at it.

Just because they've been separated, however, doesn't mean their time together is up. According to Tim Bontemps of the Washington Post, Popovich is looking forward to coaching Leonard at Team USA's minicamp in Las Vegas next week.

There's almost no way this reunion won't be awkward, but it could be a great thing for Leonard and Popovich alike. The media will be there to ask every question possible, but Leonard and Coach Popovich could just attempt to bury the hatchet now that both sides have moved on.

As Leonard begins his journey with the Raptors and DeRozan with Spurs, the questions as to why things didn't work out in San Antonio will always continue, and we may never truly know what led to the crumbling of a relationship that seemed unbreakable just a few years ago.

It's unlikely, but a quiet Leonard or a quick-witted Popovich could just answer media questions and reveal what really happened during this past 2017-18 season.

Team USA's minicamp is the perfect place for the two to not only move forward amicably and begin focusing on the future, but for Leonard to show that he is healthy and can still play basketball at a high level.
