It seems that San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich will never grow to love the 3-point shot, especially as the league has now become over-reliant on it.

Per Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe, Popovich reiterated his disdain about the shot:

“As I've said in the past, I'm just hoping it will get even more of a circus and we'll get a 4-point play, cause everybody could really have a good time then.”

He's gone on recorded several times expressing how the 3-point shot has made the game ‘boring.' His comments come in after a new batch of players already have a reliable 3-point shot in their game.

The likes of Stephen Curry and James Harden have shot the ball extremely well from downtown and will likely inspire NBA-aspirants. Apart from guards, big men have added the 3-point shot to their offensive arsenal. The Spurs legend isn't in love with any of it.

Back in the day, it seemed that only Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavericks was the only big guy who can shoot consistently from downtown. Now, you have the likes of Joel Embiid, Karl-Anthony Towns, Nikola Jokic, among others. Even Pau Gasol has added the long distance bomb to his toolbox.

Despite his comments against it, he admitted that it's something a team must possess to be able to survive in today's game. Like the great coach that he is, Popovich is aware of the changes that will affect the game of basketball moving forward.
