It has been a tough road for Kawhi Leonard, who has spent much of the regular season recovering from multiple injuries. The 2014 Finals MVP has been absent from the Spurs starting lineup since the Western Conference Finals, where Leonard went down with an ankle injury as stepping on the foot of Warriors center Zaza Pachulia.

Since then, it has been a turbulent year for the Spurs. In fact, it is possible that the Spurs could miss the postseason this year. Though, even if the Spurs make the playoffs, it's unlikely that they'll have a chance without Leonard.

Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich knows this and plans for Leonard to return to the Spurs lineup soon. On Tuesday, Gregg Popovich will speak with Leonard to see if he is ready to return to the Spurs lineup for the remainder of the season, per Tom Osborn of San Antonio Express.

Pop on Kawhi possibly returning this week: “I'll see him tomorrow. See how he's feeling. See how ready he is, see how ready I think he is, and we'll go from there.”

The Spurs have undoubtedly been a different team without Kawhi Leonard. Surprisingly, the Spurs do have an ace up their sleeve if Leonard does become healthy. With Leonard, the Spurs are a bigger threat to win a title.

Though, if they make the postseason in the Western Conference's lower seeds, teams like Houston and Golden State could have some problems. All in all, it's about what Leonard wants and how he feels heading into Tuesday. If he returns, it could alter the landscape of the NBA.
