San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker recently gave promising remarks on Kawhi Leonard's recovery status. Parker himself had just returned from injury and, during that time, ready to play his very first game of the season and was perhaps a bit too excited.

Leonard's injury seems to teeter on the more mysterious side, seemingly dragging along with little, to no, updates on his progress.

According to Parker, the All-Star forward is 2-3 weeks away from returning. There is no reason not to take his word for it, not only because he just returned from the injury process himself, but they are teammates, and Parker's account is first hand.

Coach Gregg Popovich, who remains as stubborn as ever and prefers to keep this information close to the chest, spoke out in dispute to Tony Parker's claims that Leonard would return to action in such a short time.

While Popovich won't give his point guard's assertion any validity, he did finally reveal that Kawhi Leonard's recovery from quadriceps tendinopathy is coming along quickly now.

Parker himself worked out with Leonard along with Tim Duncan and Matt Bonner. Parker also made claims that after seeing Leonard again, he almost forgot how good he was.

Kawhi Leonard has been out for all of the Spurs' games so far after initially being scheduled to miss preseason. But the Spurs aren't convinced he's ready to return just yet. Gregg Popovich gave a classic answer when told about Parker's comments by asking “Is that Dr. Parker?”

Via ESPN's Michael C. Wright:

“I'm probably not going to consult Tony on when Kawhi is going to come back,. It's just me. Maybe I'm being shortsighted, but I'm probably not gonna go there.”

There probably isn't much more that Spurs fans will get until Leonard is truly ready to return. The two-time NBA All-Star and former Defensive Player of the Year averaged 25.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.8 steals last season.
