The San Antonio Spurs are coming off a 93-81 road loss at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers lasts Thursday, but they can bounce back from that setback tonight against the Denver Nuggets at home. Their chances of beating the Nuggets should get a boost with Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green both expected to play after missing some games due to respective injuries according to Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich, via Michael C. Wright of ESPN.

Kawhi Leonard, who has been bothered with health issues this season, has not played in any of the Spurs’ last three games because of a partial tear in his shoulder. While that kind of injury sounds serious, it’s not bad enough to take out Leonard for several games. Leonard has appeared in just eight games so far this season with averages of 15.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.0 block per game.

Danny Green, on the other hand, has missed San Antonio’s last five contests due to a groin injury. The 30-year-old former North Carolina Tar Heel is putting up 8.6 points and 3.8 rebounds per game while shooting 38.7 percent from the three-point region.

The Spurs should definitely benefit from the return of these two key rotation players against Denver. Leonard and Green’s defense should help the Spurs contain the Nuggets’ offense that is currently 10th in the league in scoring with 106.8 points per game. On the flipside, the Spurs are second in the NBA in points allowed with opponents managing just 98.3 points per game.

The Spurs are 9-0 in their last nine home games against Denver.
