The San Antonio Spurs are in the midst of an ongoing situation with All-Star forward Kawhi Leonard desiring to be traded this offseason that has put the future of the franchise in the air.

Things could take yet another intriguing turn, as Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne of ESPN are reporting that Leonard has some significant interest in possibly partaking in the USA Men's Basketball national team training camp that will take place next week in Las Vegas.

San Antonio Spurs star Kawhi Leonard is seriously considering participation in the USA Basketball national team's minicamp in Las Vegas next week, an event for the embattled All-NBA forward to showcase the status of his recovery to prospective trade partners, league sources told ESPN.

This adds yet another element to the situation, as the head coach of Team USA is now Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich, who will be responsible for leading them in the 2019 World Cup and 2020 Olympics. Leonard is currently one of 35 players that is in the pool for possible selection for the 12-man roster.

It could make the situation that much more complicated with Leonard possibly using that minicamp next week to prove that he is past the quad injury that plagued almost all of last season. There have been several teams that have forced their interest in acquiring him such as the Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers, Portland Trail Blazers, and L.A Clippers.

There hasn't been any significant movement toward a deal, as the Spurs have remained firm on a high asking price for the two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year.

Ultimately, Leonard's participation in Team USA training camp could create even more of a circus around the entire ordeal that has yet to receive any clarity. There could certainly be some more twists and turns ahead this offseason centered on this matter.
