After several weeks of being in limbo, the San Antonio Spurs were finally able to move on from LaMarcus Aldridge, with reports confirming that the team had agreed to buy out his current contract. The seven-time All-Star himself has made the deal official as he bid farewell to the Spurs faithful via social media.

Aldridge took to Twitter to send out a heartfelt message of appreciation for San Antonio:

Aldridge kept his message short and sweet, but the photos he posted along with the tweet make it abundantly clear that he takes fond memories with him as he parts ways with the Spurs.

Aldridge made the move to San Antonio in 2015, signing as a free agent following a highly-successful nine-year stint with the Portland Trail Blazers. As soon as trade rumors surfaced this season, Aldridge was linked to a potential move back to Rip City in a possible reunion with former teammate Damian Lillard. While trade talks did not materialize, the Blazers could still make a move for Aldridge once he clears the waivers.

With Aldridge now set to become a free agent, there have been a number of teams that have been rumored to be in the mix for the 35-year-old. As it is, however, the Miami Heat appear to be the frontrunners to sign Aldridge as they look to add some depth to their frontcourt. A move to South Beach could work wonders for the five-time All-NBA big man, who is now at the tail end of his career.
