Things have simply not been going very well for the San Antonio Spurs (36-26) as of late. During last night's 121-116 loss to the surging New Orleans Pelicans at AT&T Center, the Spurs had their luck get even worse with injuries this season when All-Star power forward LaMarcus Aldridge was unable to return for the second half of the game.

The Spurs, who have been without the services of superstar small forward Kawhi Leonard for all but nine games of the 2017-18 NBA season, lost Aldridge to a sprained right ankle with just over three minutes to go in the second quarter.

Luckily, it is being reported that Aldridge will only be day-to-day. San Antonio veteran forward Rudy Gay thinks that Aldridge isn't going to miss much time with the ankle injury due to his toughness, according to an article written by Michael C. Wright of ESPN.

“I think he'll be fine. I'm hoping he'll be fine,” Gay said after the game. “We obviously need our big dog. He's a soldier. He'll play.”

Aldridge has been the Spurs' top player in during Leonard's absence and is averaging a team-high 22.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.2 blocked shots per game. San Antonio has now lost five of their last games and finished the month of February with just a disappointing 2-7 record.

Despite their recent stretch of poor play and squandered leads, the Spurs are still the No. 4 seed in a highly-competitive Western Conference playoff race. San Antonio will have today and tomorrow off before they host the young Los Angeles Lakers (26-34) on Saturday night.
