The San Antonio Spurs have trekked through the first few weeks of the season without the services of a couple of keys players.

One of which includes former All-Star point guard Tony Parker, who has been out with a ruptured quadriceps tendon that he suffered back in May during the playoffs in the Western Conference semifinals against the Houston Rockets.

It has been a long journey back for the 35-year-old from a serious injury that longtime teammate Manu Ginobili believes will lead to an emotional return for Parker, according to Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News.

“We are just thrilled to see him dressed, be with us, warm up with us, be on the bench, playing or whatever. It’s just going to be great to see him with his outfit, with his 9 on his chest, after all the uncertainties after his injury. So I think it’s going to be more of an impact emotionally than what he can give us on the court.”

There is much excitement for Parker's return given the huge amount of impact that he's made on the franchise. Although he will likely be playing on in a limited role in his first game back, his presence alone could provide a significant boost to the team.

This is also a huge hurdle for him to overcome both physically and mentally with it being in the backend of his career in his 17th season in the league. Parker may not be the player he once was but he could still have a tremendous impact on the Spurs as a steady hand in the backcourt while also providing a scoring punch that could help alleviate some of the pressure from Kawhi Leonard being out.
