Now in his 16th year in the NBA, Manu Ginobili has seen it all in his illustrious career and there’s not a lot that he has not experienced yet at the highest level. However, he is saying that this season is different than any other he’s had and even feels that the San Antonio Spurs are “terrible” enough right now that they are in unchartered territory.

With injuries hampering their players throughout the season, including Kawhi Leonard, coupled with the highs and lows they are enduring, Ginobili shared, via Tom Osborn of the San Antonio Express-News, that he thinks this is a crazy year for the Spurs.

He also added that despite all the facets of the game he knows they still have to improve on, it’s surprising that the Spurs are still in third place in the Western Conference.

The Spurs have been playing without Leonard almost the entire season, and they have relied on their young guns to carry them during games. The veterans have just continued to play solid basketball for them, and with Gregg Popovich calling the plays on the sidelines, the Spurs will always be a very difficult team to beat especially in the playoffs, regardless of who is playing well for them on any given night.

Players like Ginobili have a deep understanding of what’s needed to win it all. That said, he only wants to make it to the postseason and lead the team with his veteran smarts to make another deep run in what could be his final season in the NBA.

It may seem like the Spurs are in a situation they are not used to be in, but given all the years of success they’ve had, it won’t come as a shock if they will all figure it out eventually.
