Quincy Pondexter will have another shot to prove himself in the NBA, this time with the San Antonio Spurs. According to Chris Haynes of ESPN, Pondexter has signed a one-year deal with the 2014 NBA Champions. Michael Scotto of The Athletic adds that Pondexter's deal is partially guaranteed. The journeyman swingman has dealt with injuries for much of his career and he has never been able to kickstart his career.

Pondexter was selected with the 26th pick by the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2010, but he played his rookie season with the New Orleans Hornets before playing three-plus seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies.

The most successful portion of Pondexter's career came with the New Orleans Pelicans in 2015. He played 45 games for the Pelicans and carved out a spot in the team's rotation. He averaged 9.0 points and 3.1 rebounds per game.

But a slew of injuries kept Pondexter out of action for two straight seasons before he returned to play a handful of games with the Chicago Bulls last season.

Pondexter is certainly not the biggest news in San Antonio today as franchise legend Manu Ginobili announced his retirement, but his signing is important nonetheless. If there is any coach in the league that can salvage a reclamation project like Pondexter, it's Gregg Popovich. Pop and R.C. Buford obviously see something in Pondexter and it will be interesting to see how he performs in San Antonio.

The Spurs are a much different team than they were a year ago. With the departures of Ginobili, Tony Parker, and Kawhi Leonard, it's unclear how Popovich's rotations will shake out. If nothing else, Pondexter has an opportunity to prove all his doubters wrong.
