The San Antonio Spurs made a big trade after sending Dejounte Murray to the Atlanta Hawks. This franchise is obviously opting to rebuild from the ground up to get out of the middle of the pack. San Antonio acquired Danilo Gallinari in the trade with Atlanta and it sounds like the front office has made their official decision for the veteran forward.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Spurs are waiving Gallinari from the roster which makes him a free agent. San Antonio is looking to get younger and is more interested in draft picks. This now allows Danilo Gallinari to sign with any team he wants to continue his career.

Although San Antonio loses a solid scoring option in Gallinari, the front office has a plan they're going to see through. Acquiring draft capital is going to be a must these next couple of years as the focus will be to keep the salary cap space as low as possible. It's been a while since we've seen the Spurs at the top of the league so it will be interesting to see how they construct the roster in their rebuild.

As of now, it's unclear where Danilo Gallinari will sign in free agency. There are multiple teams that could use his presence, so it shouldn't be hard for him to sign a deal. Meanwhile, Dejounte Murray finds himself in a great situation playing alongside Trae Young. The Hawks have an elite backcourt at their disposal now, which bodes well for their chances next season and beyond. As for the Spurs, they're focused on rebuilding.
