WNBA star and TNT analyst Candace Parker sent high praises towards San Antonio Spurs star DeMar DeRozan. Parker suggested that DeRozan would have wound up as one of the best to ever play the game had he played in the 1990s. However, Shaquille O'Neal, who played nearly half of his Hall of Fame in that decade, wasn't sold with the idea at all.

As Parker argued her piece, Shaq apparently gave her that look, perhaps side-eyeing the WNBA champion's rather spicy take. The 4-time NBA champion dismissed the nation and suggested that DeRozan would not be able to handle the physicality of the 1990s. Back then, the Spurs had David Robinson, who was joined by Tim Duncan to form a scary twin tower in the Spurs' frontcourt later in the decade.

Parker argued that the Spurs star's mid-range heavy game would make him, not just thrive in the decade, but be one of the best to ever do it. She added that not utilizing the three-point shot as much in this current era has affected the way people view the 4-time All-Star. Nonetheless, it seems like Parker is still very much appreciative of what the 6-foot-6 Spurs guard offers to the game in terms of being one of those throwback type of players.

Watch their discussion below, which starts at around the 40-second mark of this NBA on TNT YouTube channel clip:

Parker definitely makes a good point here. She's right about DeRozan being such an elite talent who's still producing at a very high level despite not fully adapting to the 3-point era. It's certainly worth imagining just how the Spurs' hotshot would have fared in the 1990s, where the mid-range was more valued and utilized.

If only there is a time machine so that we could get players such as DeRozan and drop him in the '90s. Perhaps we could trade the Spurs star for someone like Reggie Miller, so we could see just how dominant the Indiana Pacers legend in this current era.
