Tony Parker is working on his retirement plans, and the 37-year-old professed that, someday, he envisions himself to be an owner of his beloved Spurs. However, speaking to Jabari Young of The Athletic, the six-time All-Star did admit that this is not going to happen in the near future, given his current ownership of a EuroLeage team:

“Right now, I’m not focused on that,” said Parker. “When people ask me that, they always ask because I own ASVEL. But you can’t own another team when you’re the owner of a EuroLeague team. So, it’s not a question for now.”

Nonetheless, Parker went on to say that this is something he sees in the pipeline, but at the moment, he is fully committed to ASVEL:

“Is it a dream? Yeah, maybe one day,” confirmed Parker. “But right now, that’s not my focus because I’m with ASVEL and I love what I’m doing with that EuroLeague team. At least for the next five to seven years, I’m going to be 100 percent with ASVEL to try and become a powerhouse and be a great EuroLeague team.

“Yeah, I mean it can be a dream, but it depends on the opportunity. It doesn’t have to be the Spurs. It depends on the different opportunities and people that you want to work with. But as of right now, as I said, it’s a far, far dream because I’m with ASVEL and I love what I’m doing.”

This is Parker being as diplomatic as he can be while also admitting that he does see himself taking over the reigns of the Spurs somewhere down the line. He is a legend within the franchise and the city of San Antonio, so the Spurs faithful would welcome him with open arms.
