The game on Thursday between the San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors is a highly anticipated one as it will be a matchup of two title favorites in the Western Conference. The two teams also have some history, after they met in last season's playoffs where Kawhi Leonard suffered an ankle injury after Zaza Pachulia challenged his jumper.

However, the Spurs may be severely shorthanded on the night, as they already are playing without Leonard for the majority of the campaign, and could also be missing the services of Pau Gasol, who hurt his shoulder on Monday against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Tony Parker confirmed the development and said that the Spanish international badly hurt it and will most likely not play against the Warriors, according to Tom Osborn of the San Antonio Express-News.

Despite averaging a career-low this season of only 10.8 points, to go along with 8.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.1 blocks in 25.1 minutes per game, Gasol still contributes in other ways for the Spurs. He is also one of their veteran locker room leaders, giving his team a lot of playoff and championship experience, having won two titles in his career.

Should Gasol indeed miss the game, it will mean that the Spurs will rely heavily on LaMarcus Aldridge, Manu Ginobili, Danny Green and Parker to help them pull off the upset against the defending champions. It may seem like an even taller order for them, but with good teamwork, and a very talented coaching staff on their bench, it is not entirely impossible.
