Dallas Mavericks fans who paid a good amount of money to watch their team play against the San Antonio Spurs are very disappointed after finding out Gregg Popovich will sit out some of his key players.

The team announced that a total of six players, including three of their starters will not see action on Friday. With the playoffs nearing and the Spurs already assured of the second seed in the Western Conference, the veteran head coach and his staff will give an additional night off to them.

With San Antonio playing a back-to-back set, it can be expected the rested players will be activated on Saturday when they square off versus the L.A. Clippers, which is scheduled to be aired live on ABC.

It can be recalled that the league office issued a memo to teams regarding DNP-rests last month. That being said, the Spurs will most likely comply with it and have their stars compete on national TV against one of the favorites in their conference.

The Spurs may still be competitive on the night as they have proven in the past that they can still win games despite missing some of their starters. The announcement can be considered a win-win situation for the team as their players will have extra rest, while the bench players will have the opportunity to play extended minutes and gain more experience.
