The Steam Games Festival repeatedly serves as a platform to showcase the latest amazing games. Players get access to countless player demos every time the event rolls out on the Steam digital storefront. Additonally, purchasing games becomes increasingly easier when players get the chance to try them out. The Steam Games Festival enjoyed modest success since its introduction in 2019. Now, Valve promises to bring back the Festival in June under the new Steam Next Fes brand.
THE BRAND NEW STEAM NEXT FEST
Steam Next Fes starts on June 16 and will conclude on June 22. Players will still get to try out the latest games and get the chance to talk to developers. The most recent Steam Game Festival took place in February 2021. Players got an up-close look at indie games Genesis Noir, Narita Boy, and many others. Valve posted a statement clarifying the details behind the rebranding of the Steam Game Festival.
“We’ve renamed the Steam Game Festival to more directly communicate its focus: Announcing Steam Next Fest, a multi-day celebration of upcoming games. Explore and play hundreds of game demos, watch developer live streams, and chat with the teams about their games in progress, coming soon to Steam.”
The dates match up with the reported dates for this year's E3 event. Valve indicated no possible connection between their game festival and the upcoming game developer showcase. However, Valve offered several E3-themed sales in the past. Players can expect to enjoy great discounts on video game franchises related to the E3 showcases. Additionally, unconfirmed reports point towards June 24 as the start date of this year's Summer Steam Sale.
It's the perfect one-two combination of great game demos and amazing deals during this Summer. Above all, players now have ample time to prepare their wallets and computers for Steam's next planned special event.
