The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off of a disappointing season in which they went 9-6-1 and missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2013-14 campaign, largely due to a dysfunctional locker room.

Well, this offseason, the Steelers rid themselves of a guy who was widely viewed as a distraction in Antonio Brown, and Le'Veon Bell, who held out all of 2018 and the beginning of 2017 due to a perpetual contract dispute with the club, is now gone.

So, even though Pittsburgh saw two of its most talented players go, perhaps the loss of both guys will be addition by subtraction.

Even without Brown and Bell, the Steelers are expected to contend for the AFC North division title, and Ben Roethlisberger and Co. really have something to prove in 2019.

So, here are the three Steelers players under the most pressure going into this season:

3. James Washington

While veteran Donte Moncrief appears to be the favorite to land the No. 2 wide receiver job heading into 2019, James Washington is probably the guy Pittsburgh wants alongside of JuJu Smith-Schuster for the future.

A second-round pick from a year ago, Washington made a very limited impact during his rookie season, logging just 16 catches for 217 yards and a touchdown.

But, the Steelers seem to like Washington a heck of a lot, so he will get opportunities to produce this season. It's up to him to make all of it come to fruition.

If Washington shows no signs of progressing in 2019, Pittsburgh may begin to look elsewhere for a No. 2 wide out moving forward, which could bring a swift end to Washington's tenure in Steel City.

2. James Conner

The Steelers look to be in good hands with James Conner as the running back, as he is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he rushed for 973 yards and 12 touchdowns in just 13 games, also hauling in 55 receptions for 497 yards and a score en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

With Bell gone, there is no question as to whether or not Conner will be the No. 1 back, but he has to stay on the field.

He had surgery to repair a knee injury during his rookie year in 2017, and this past season, he missed three games to a lower leg injury.

Pittsburgh will likely rely heavily on its ground game in 2019 with Brown out of the picture, meaning that Conner could take on a pretty heavy workload.

As a result, the 24-year-old will need to be the best version of himself from the get-go.

1. JuJu Smith-Schuster

Smith-Schuster had a monster 2018 campaign, hauling in 111 receptions for 1,426 yards and seven touchdowns, making the Pro Bowl as a result.

But with Brown gone, Smith-Schuster will now take center stage as the Steelers' clear-cut No. 1 receiver, and the question certainly remains as to whether or not Smith-Schuster can maintain his level of production without Brown on the other side.

The 22-year-old will certainly see his fair share of double teams in 2019, and it will be interesting to see how he handles it in order to determine if he is truly a legitimate No. 1 guy.

He will probably be just fine, but there is no doubt that there is a lot of pressure on Smith-Schuster.
