In today's “who didn't see this one coming?” news, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown continues to face drama as the NFL announced that they will be investigating his recent domestic violence incident in Florida.

Even though Brown wasn't arrested after the dispute — apparently, there was no allegation of actual assault, or anyone getting hurt — the NFL said, through a spokesman, that they plan to internally investigate the matter.

Should they decide to dig too deep into things, Brown could face disciplinary action from the league.

That discipline could result in a suspension of Brown. And, if he does end up getting suspended, this could certainly affect the status of his potential trade. That said, it's unclear how long the NFL would take to resolve the dispute. If they do end up launching a full-scale investigation, the NFL takes a long time to get to the bottom of things, historically speaking.

As was previously reported, Antonio Brown called the accusations “baseless and false,” but whether he's ultimately found guilty in a court of law is irrelevant. If the NFL decides to suspend him, it can do so without warning or exception, and he doesn't have to be found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt to get suspended.

Additionally, if he is suspended, and he gets traded, it will be unclear when Brown can take the field again. Hopefully, Brown can stop getting in trouble long enough to actually play on the field, instead of always involving himself in some unnecessary mess.
