Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is in the twilight of his playing career but he can still deliver the goods — on and off the field. This one is more of a latter, as the veteran signal-caller helped fulfill the wish of Garrett King, a high school quarterback of the Freeport High School football team who is also dealing with cancer.

The Steelers uploaded a video on their YouTube account showing how Roethlisberger surprised King and company.

I’m Ben Roethlisberger. I’m about to be part of an amazing surprise for a local football team for Make-A-Wish. So, stay tuned. It’s going to be exciting.

King’s wish was simple: a new set of threads for his boys. But Make-A-Wish did more than just give the team fresh uniforms. They also had the Steelers star QB personally presenting the kits to Garrett and the rest of the Freeport HS football squad. The package also included custom shoes from Nike, each coming with an autograph from CEO Phil Knight. Even Steelers players would have loved to have those.

As for the wish of Steelers fans, Roethlisberger will try to lead the franchise to Super Bowl win in the 2021 NFL season.

Ben Roethlisberger, who turned 39 last March, recently signed a one-year extension with the Steelers worth $14 million.

The Steelers will play the Buffalo Bills on the road in Week 1 of the 2021 NFL regular season.
