Earlier this offseason, it was revealed that Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers had grown a caveman-esque beard. After months of not shaving, Roethlisberger finally trimmed his epic offseason beard on Monday.

Early in the 2019 NFL season, Roethlisberger would suffer a season-ending elbow injury versus the Seattle Seahawks. As a result, he would miss 14 games and would need to undergo surgery on his injured elbow.

During his absence, the Steelers were forced to deploy Mason Rudolph and Devlin Hodges at quarterback. Of course, without Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh's offense sputtered throughout the 2019 campaign.

However, with Roethlisberger continuing his recovery from elbow surgery, the Steelers expect him to be under center next season. Even at 38 years old and coming off a serious injury, the former first-round pick is a massive upgrade over what Pittsburgh had last season.

Throughout his career, Roethlisberger has sported plenty of different looks with his hair and facial hair. But the beard he grew throughout the offseason rivaled anything he's done before in his career.

At one point, Roethlisberger looked like he was trying to be Brett Keisel's doppelganger. Keisel was a former teammate of Roethlisberger, playing with the Steelers from 2002-2014.

While he wasn't able to play football a season ago, Roethlisberger chose to let his facial hair grow out. Even when the veteran signal-caller began throwing again, he continued to be immune to shaving his beard.

Nevertheless, last month, Roethlisberger exclaimed that he would shave the beard off when he felt like he was ready to officially return. Seeing that he's a clean-shaven man again, it appears that Roethlisberger is ready to suit up for the Steelers in 2020.
