Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner came up with another terrific showing in their win against the Cincinnati Bengals as he rushed for 111 yards with two touchdowns. Ben Roethlisberger was once again full of praise for the young back after the game, joking that Conner did well in his last game for the Steelers with Le’Veon Bell’s pending return.

“He was a bowling ball today,” Roethlisberger said, via PennLive.com. “He was all over the place. What a great game, but I know it’s his last game for us, so, because Le’Veon’s coming back. I thought he did well in his last one.”

Roethlisberger has been quite a vocal supporter of Conner’s. He recently advocated for the second-year back to continue being a significant part of the offense even if Bell does return ahead of Week 8.

It’s not hard to see why Big Ben has been a big fan. Conner has been a capable replacement for Bell, putting up 453 rushing yards with seven touchdowns to go with 257 receiving yards through six games this season.

Based on what he’s shown through the first six weeks, this will most surely not be Conner’s last game with the Steelers this season. Conner should still get his share of touches even when Bell does make his anticipated return, just like Roethlisberger has lobbied for.

He has earned the right to play, and the Steelers would be wise to find a way to utilize such a clearly talented player in their backfield for the remainder of the season.
