A good number of NFL players aren’t too pleased with their ratings on Madden 19. Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Cam Heyward is one of them. Hewyard responded to the fact that his 88 rating didn’t see him included in the top 15-rated defensive ends by saying it was a “joke.”

Madden offered the disgruntled player the chance to make his case to get his ratings bumped up, which Heyward took them up on. Heyward listed off his credentials, which include the fact that he was a First-Team All-Pro and Pro Bowl alternate last season after he had a career-high 12 sacks.

And after reviewing his case, Madden decided to grant Heyward’s request and tweak his ratings. They upped his strength up three points to 93, and added one point to awareness to strength and play recognition, resulting in 96 for both of those categories.

Based on his credentials, it seemed only fair that Heyward gets a boost in his ratings. With all due respect to some of the other players rated higher than him, but Heyward deserves to be ranked above them.

It remains to be seen whether Heyward will be satisfied with the modest rise in his ratings. Similarly, it will be interesting to see whether other players dissatisfied with their ratings will follow his lead after seeing his case approved.

Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette recently asked to be taken off the game for his low rating. Maybe he should get in touch with Heyward to make his case to Madden for him in order to get that added bump up.
