The entire Pittsburgh Steelers squad held their breath for a while as defensive lineman Cam Heyward was seen limping off the field in their Week 8 encounter against the Baltimore Ravens. His quad injury was diagnosed to be of minor severity and is deemed as nothing serious, per NFL Network‘s Ian Rapoport.

The former Ohio State Buckeye went to the sidelines twice in the final five minutes of the game. His first exit seemed to be due to cramping, and he returned to the trenches a few snaps later. The second incident looked more worrisome, occurring during the third-to-last play of the fourth quarter. Another defensive lineman in tackle Tyson Alualu went down as he suffered a knee injury during the first quarter and did not return.

The Steelers also missed the services of veteran defensive end Chris Wormley, who was recently named to the team's injured reserve list due to a knee injury. The team was left with three defensive ends at the end of Sunday's game, namely starter Stephon Tuitt, second-year player Isaiah Buggs, and rookie Henry Mondeaux.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin can't afford another player to sustain a major injury with the trade deadline already drawing near. Sophomore linebacker Devin Bush recently suffered a torn ACL injury, which prompted the Steelers to pull the trigger on a trade to acquire veteran linebacker Avery Williamson from the New York Jets.

The Steelers expect Heyward to be back soon in time for their Week 9 encounter against the Dallas Cowboys.
