Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has been credited with a lot of positive things thus far this season.

Now he can put “inspiration for a breakout game” to his resume.

Following a huge game and coming out party for Steelers rookie wide receiver Chase Claypool, he credited Tomlin with helping him stay focused so he could have the game he did.

“He definitely kept telling me to stay humble,” Claypool said, via ESPN's Brooke Pryor. “… he doesn't have to worry about that. I appreciate him keeping me grounded. In times like this, you can lose sight of important things. … I'm enjoying the moment for sure, but not letting it get to me.”

The moment he's talking about is a four-touchdown game in which Claypool caught seven receptions for 110 yards and three of his four touchdowns. The other touchdown he scored was a rushing one. He ran three times overall for six yards.

A rookie out of Notre Dame, Claypool was picked by the Steelers in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Even before he stepped on the field he was getting high praise from the Steelers coaching staff. Most notably was Ike Hilliard, the Steelers' new wide receivers coach this season, who heaped praise on Claypool before the team was even allowed to get on the field together.

“If Chase does what we expect him to do — and that’s make plays early and often — Chase is going to play a lot, he’s going to be really good,” Hilliard said in August.

Claypool and the Steelers will look to continue their winning ways next week when they face off against the Cleveland Browns.
