The Pittsburgh Steelers are officially onto the once heralded franchise's next era. With both Oakland Raiders wide receiver Antonio Brown and New York Jets running back Le'Veon Bell officially out of the picture in the “Steel City,” veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and up-and-coming wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster will be leading the way for the Steelers in 2019-20.

However, not to be forgotten, Steelers place kicker Chris Boswell could become a major factor going forward, especially if Pittsburgh is unable to get the offense going at full-speed in the absence of the aforementioned tandem of Brown and Bell. Although struggling at times last season, Boswell is only focused on the future — and rightfully so.

“I know I’ve gotta be better than last year, but I’m not even paying attention to last year,” Boswell recently said, via the team's official website. “I’m focused on next kick. I’m focused on next Tuesday is my next team period. Just kinda going day by day, kick by kick.”

In 2018-29, the 28-year-old Boswell appeared in 15 regular season games for the Steelers en route to hitting just 13 of his 20 field goal attempts. He also missed five extra points while going 43-of-48 on the year. Boswell's longest field goal of the season came from 50 yards out while the veteran special teamer produced a total of 82 total points for Pittsburgh a season ago — a single-season career-low mark.

It is worth noting, though, that the Steelers signed fellow place kicker Matthew Wright as an undrafted free agent this offseason. As it stands today, Wright serves as the only competition for Boswell currently under the Steelers umbrella.
