The Pittsburgh Steelers traded up in the first round of the NFL Draft for the first time since 2003 on Thursday night, making a move to No. 10 to select University of Michigan linebacker Devin Bush.

The aforementioned last time the Steelers traded up in the opening round of the draft, they did so to select safety Troy Polamalu, so Pittsburgh's track record in that regard is pretty solid.

Bush is excited to be a member of the Steelers, and one Pittsburgh player he admires in particular is linebacker Ryan Shazier:

“I think Ryan Shazier was a great player, still is and I hope to see him soon,” said Bush, according to Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official team website. “I wish all the best to Ryan Shazier with his recovery and I know he’s going to do well. I know he has the heart to and has the will to – he will be back.”

Of course, Shazier is still sidelined after suffering a devastating spinal injury in December 2017 and will miss his second straight season in 2019.

But Shazier is still a member of the Steelers and will likely be giving pointers to Bush along the way.

And as for Bush? He isn't trying to be anybody but himself:

“I’m just ready to be Devin Bush,” he said. “I’m not trying to compare myself to Ryan Shazier or anybody else. I’m going to come in and be Devin Bush.”

The 20-year-old is coming off of a junior campaign in which he registered 66 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks and four passes defended.
