The Pittsburgh Steelers secured their first win of the season with James Conner and Jaylen Samuels leading the way for the offense. After the win, it was discovered that Conner and Samuels made history versus the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night.

The Steelers made a concerted effort to get their running backs involved in the passing game in Week 4. So much so, that Conner and Samuels is the first backfield duo to carry it eight times and corral eight receptions in the same game since Gary Anderson and Lionel James did it in 1985.

Prior to Monday's game, Pittsburgh had little to no success running the ball. Altogether, in the first three games of the season, the Steelers two featured running backs combined for 119 yards on 39 attempts.

It wasn't much better for the duo against the Bengals with them rushing for just 68 yards on 20 rushing attempts. But at the same time, Conner and Samuels were able to be an extension of the passing game.

Through the air, the Steelers backfield tandem combined for 14 receptions for 160 yards and two touchdowns. The Steelers offense looked a bit different as they decided to incorporate the wildcat formation in Week 4.

With Ben Roethlisberger not under center, the Steelers may have to turn to utilize the wildcat in their offense moving forward. Especially if their running game continues to underwhelm.

Nonetheless, Conner and Samuels were crucial to Pittsburgh winning their first game of the season. Pittsburgh will look to carry their newfound momentum into Week 5 against another one of their AFC North rivals, the Baltimore Ravens.
