In a world where players like Antonio Brown are doing everything they can to get out of the Steel City, James Conner says he wants to be a Steeler for life.

CBS Sports said that Conner made the comments at the Dapper Dan awards, where he was named Man of the Year.

“Mr. Rooney, Coach T., my guy, Mr. Colbert, I can’t be Pittsburgh Dapper Dan Sportsman of the Year without getting that phone call on draft day. So if anybody else has anything nice to say, say it to him, because I wanna be a Steeler for life.”

James Conner can rest easy, because it looks like he did well enough to see his dream of being a Steeler for life come true, at least for now.

“Conner rushed for 973 yards and 12 touchdowns last season despite missing three games due to injury. He also caught 55 passes for 497 yards that included a touchdown catch in Pittsburgh's Week 9 victory in Baltimore. Conner, the AFC's Offensive Player of the Month for the month of October, became the first player in franchise history to rush for at least 100 yards and two touchdowns while also recording at least 50 receiving yards in three consecutive games. Conner was tabbed as the AFC's starting running back for the 2019 Pro Bowl in recognition of his outstanding season.”

Other players, including Von Miller of the Denver Broncos, have taken notice of James Conner and his sure-footedness on the field. Miller, who was Conner's Pro Bowl teammate, said the Steelers running back is “great” on the field.
