The Pittsburgh Steelers said goodbye to a legend this week with the team unexpectedly parting ways with veteran linebacker James Harrison ahead of Week 16's matchup with the Houston Texans.

With the Harrison now released and a free agent once again, the five-time Pro Bowler took to Instagram to give thanks to Steelers fans.

With the emergence of rookie linebacker T.J. Watt, brother of Texans superstar J.J. Watt, in Pittsburgh, Harrison saw his role with the Steelers greatly diminished. Harrison wasn't happy about the decreased and voiced his displeasure, but the team was content moving forward with the younger Watt.

Now that Harrison has been let go, the question is whether he'll want to continue his career in the NFL or choose to retire. Harrison is still productive when given the opportunity to play as he was the Steelers' best pass rusher last year and could be a welcome addition for a playoff-bound team that needs help on that side of the football.

Harrison is the all-time sacks leader for the Steelers and is likely assured a spot in the Hall of Fame when the time comes. Although his legacy has him set up for a Hall-of-Fame finish, Harrison's immediate future remains uncertain.
