The Pittsburgh Steelers are in unfamiliar territory at the moment. They've always been used to competing at the top of the AFC North for so long that it's odd for them to have a 1-3 record at this point of the season.

The way things are going, it seems like the Steelers will have their first lottery pick in a while. However, Pittsburgh wide receiver James Washington is positive that the team can turn things around.

Chris Adamski in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review talked about the team's early-season struggles. He believed that the team still has the quality to turn things around and compete for a wildcard spot.

“I just have got to stay positive,” the 2018 second-round pick said, “and make the plays that come my way.”

Washington had a good preseason, but his performance dipped after the season started properly. While's he's had a good return of 88 yards in only six catches, he knows that he can still contribute better.

However, he's taking his time and is waiting for the game to come around.

“I work. I try to just do my best and do whatever I can do to help this team win, to be honest,” Washington said.

“You know, just got to keep working,” Washington said. “It’ll happen. Just stay confident in everybody on this team and trust that everything that happens, happens for a reason.”

The air around the team is fickle. While the team is devastated to have lost Big Ben to injury, they are cautiously optimistic with Mason Rudolph leading the team. They also have playmakers like JuJu Smith-Schuster and Minkah Fitzpatrick who can make their presence felt.

There's a good reason for Washington to be positive about the Steelers' chances. They're not exactly out of the race just yet.
