The Pittsburgh Steelers are hoping to bounce back from a disappointing 2018 campaign and reclaim their spot atop of the AFC North division, but what happened in practice on Wednesday might have a pretty adverse effect on those dreams, as cornerback Joe Haden was carted off of the field due to an injury, according to Steelers reporter Missi Matthews.

While getting carted off the field is obviously never a good sign, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that it's only a minor injury.

Haden is going into the final year of his deal and had been engaged in productive extension talks with the club, but this could definitely hinder those discussions if it turns out the injury is more severe than expected.

The 30-year-old is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he played 15 games and registered 63 tackles, a couple of interceptions, a forced fumble and 12 passes defended.

He joined the Steelers in 2017 after being waived by the Cleveland Browns, and in his first season in Pittsburgh, he appeared in 11 contests and totaled 20 tackles, a sack, a pick and seven passes defended.

Haden, who played his collegiate football at the University of Florida, was originally selected by the Browns with the seventh overall pick of the 2010 NFL Draft.

He went on to become one of the best cornerbacks in football during his time in Cleveland, making back-to-back Pro Bowl appearances in 2013 and 2014.

The Steelers went 9-6-1 this past season and missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2013-14 campaign.
