The Pittsburgh Steelers may not be one of the favorites to make the Super Bowl out of the AFC this year, but that hasn’t stopped some of its younger players from being confident. Speaking to the media during his trip to London as part of the NFL Academy, JuJu Smith-Schuster embraced the competition in the AFC, and especially the AFC North.

When asked about what it will be like to play against the Cleveland Browns, who recently acquired superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., Schuster noted how excited he was to play against someone of that caliber.

“He’s awesome,” Smith-Schuster said of Beckham via 247 Sports. “Him being with the Browns is going to be super cool. He’s someone I grew up watching. Getting to play against him and the Browns is going to be exciting.”

The Browns have quickly rebuilt themselves into what could be a contender for the AFC North, and with the Baltimore Ravens also going through a brief retooling, the Steelers place atop the division is no longer secured.

Although the Steelers lost Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown during the offseason, the team still feels it has some incredible talent.

Younger players like James Connor, Smith-Schuster, and T.J. Watt are all on the rise, and have proven to be Pro Bowl talents in the past. Combine that with veteran leaders like Maurkice Pouncey, David DeCastro, and Ben Roethlisberger, and the Steelers may not be so last despite the team losing some stars.

While the AFC is probably more competitive then its been in the last decade, Pittsburgh seems ready to compete for the division, or at the very least a wildcard spot.
