Pittsburgh Steelers star running back Le'Veon Bell is nearing his expected to end his holdout and return to the team at some point early next week.

This has created a renewed level of buzz around the team with Bell being back in the fold after an extended time away from the team. Second-year wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster has voiced that he has been impressed by the play of running back James Conner but at the same time is excited to see the Pro Bowler return to the mix, according to Chase Williams of WPXI.

“Honestly, I think he's doing good. I think he’s doing great. With that being said, his numbers prove (that).  I am happy that Le’Veon is coming back. Super excited to have two backs go at it and fight for their spot. At the same time, you’ve got a guy who has played already here for a good amount of time who has shown what he can do and you got a young dude who is just proving what he can do to Steelers’ fans and the nation.”

Bell is set to return to a situation that could become quite muddy as Conner has performed quite well in his absence as he has been highly productive currently ranking fifth with 403 rushing yards and second with seven rushing touchdowns along with 26 receptions for 257 receiving yards in the first six games played. This includes recording three 100 rushing yard performances that he has reached the mark in each of the last two games with four total touchdowns over that span.

The Steelers have already come to voice that the plan is to keep to Conner as the starter even when Bell returns while quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has stated that he wants to keep the second-year running back highly involved. This could turn out to be a split carry situation in order to get the most out of both players moving forward in the season.

Aside from that, there is a renewed level of excitement with the anticipated return of arguably the best running back in the league to the mix.
