The Pittsburgh Steelers' season didn't exactly get off to the start they envisioned. Fortunately for coach Mike Tomlin and company, though, any struggles going forward won't be related to the absence of JuJu Smith-Schuster.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Pittsburgh's No. 1 wideout won't miss any time despite leaving Sunday's loss to the New England Patriots early to go to the X-ray room.

Smith-Schuster had six catches for 78 yards on eight targets before leaving the game with an injury. Little was known about the extent of his injury during the game, leading some to speculate that the third-year wideout could have sustained a malady that will sideline him going forward. Obviously, news that Smith-Schuster suffered a minor injury and won't miss any time is great news for Pittsburgh.

The USC product broke out in a big way as a sophomore, building on a promising rookie season by becoming one of the most productive playmakers in all of football, finishing with 111 catches for 1,426 yards and seven scores. Now entrenched as Ben Roethlisberger’s top target, it’s reasonable to expect Smith-Schuster to become an even bigger focal point of the Steelers' offense in Antonio Brown's absence.

Pittsburgh was absolutely trounced by New England in Foxborough on Sunday night, losing 33-3, a dispiriting effort for a team many assumed would be competing for the AFC crown this season. The Steelers managed just 308 yards of total offense and surrendered an average 6.9 yards per play to the defending Super Bowl champions, two-way futility that caused star defender Cameron Hayward to “we got our butts whooped.”
