Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert isn't interested in getting in a battle over Le'Veon Bell and doesn't want to let it drag out through the media. After Bell's agent, Adisa Bakari appeared on SiriusXM NFL Radio and said things have changed and he wouldn't give specifics on when his client will show up.

Colbert told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler that if Bell's agent wanted to talk that he has his phone number and that they could talk that way.

“We are not going to discuss any conversations through the media. If Adisa (Bakari) would like to talk further, he has the phone number to our offices.”

If Bell doesn't sign his franchise tag by 4 pm on Saturday, he will forfeit $852,941 on salary. Most believed that Bell would report to the team for Wednesday's team meeting but that came and went, and Bell was nowhere to be found. There is some hope that he will report next week so that he can play next weekend but it seems like a real possibility that he could sit out until week ten.

The Steelers will turn to James Conner on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, and the team has confidence in him.

“It’s definitely a change for everybody, but I think James really took advantage of the opportunity,” Big Ben said of Conner, via 247 Sports. “Catching the ball, running the ball, his conditioning…I expect and hope to see great things for him this year, especially early.

If Bell doesn't sign a long-term extension this offseason the team might be getting looking at their future at running back.
