The post-Ben Roethlisberger era has started for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Of course, on top of the to-do list is to find a guy who will succeed the legendary quarterback. It will be a very daunting task, as Roethlisberger is arguably the most iconic player in Steelers history.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin, who spent 15 years with Roethlisberger, will have his hands full in picking the right guy. He recently admitted that Mason Rudolph and Dwyane Haskins are both in a good position to be the squad's top signal-caller.

In his latest comment, Tomlin also shut down a possible option in replacing Roethlisberger. He said he'd rather lean on a veteran QB than bring in a neophyte (via The Athletic's Mark Kaboly).

This early, it seems the Steelers are already decided on skipping on a quarterback in the 2022 NFL Draft. They are picking 20th overall and guys like Kenny Pickett of Pittsburgh, Matt Corral of Ole Miss, and Desmond Rider of Cincinnati could still be available.

But it's also hard to second guess Tomlin's mindset. He knows continuity is imperative to keep the Steelers' momentum going, and both Rudolph and Haskins are already familiar with the system. Not to mention, they probably learned a lot from Roethlisberger. While they haven't really made a significant impact, this could be their shot to prove they can hang with the rest of the NFL.

Tomlin had a lot of success with Roethlisberger. But with a new chapter on the horizon, he can only hope he can replicate the success with his new quarterback.
